Best Practices In Youth Athletic Development (Free Talk AND Workout): Aug 10, 2019, 11:15 am

FitWit is hosting a free talk and workout for both parents and kids interested in youth athletic development.

Saturday, August 10, 11:15 – 12:15 at our Kirkwood Gym (2197 College Ave. Atlanta, Ga 30317)

Coach Josh Guerrieri will lead us in this unique event as he takes participants through a sample workout (parents too!) AND discusses the most current research in youth athletics. Josh has coached everything from youth soccer up through high school basketball and track, and he’s led FitWit over the last 15 years in developing both our adult and youth programming. Bonus – he also has five kids who all play sports. He’ll cover:

  • The real purpose of youth sports and training
  • Risks of early specialization
  • The mistakes of well-intentioned parents AND what we can do to fix them
  • What to do about ‘early succeeders’
  • Importance of fun and free play for children (and what we as parents can do with the pressures of year-round sports)
  • The Relative Age Effect
  • What the 10,000 Hour Rule actually means for youth training
  • Appropriate strength training and programming for youth athletes

Open to the first 16 parents filling out the form to the right. Please bring your child too (over 10 yrs old), as we’ll all experience pieces of a sample workout together.

NOTE: If this time/day does not work for you, please email [email protected] and we'll put you on the list for the next one. Thanks!
