A thunderous applause to our January member of the month, John M.! Many may know him from his loud, encouraging claps during a hard set of conditioning on the erg or the air bike. He’s a motivator and a man of action, ready to get after it with a smile on his face. John is the type of member that comes consistently every week and 10-15 minutes early just to get stretched and mobile. The kind of friend that is perfect for keeping you accountable during a monthly challenge or running into during a golf session. Read on to learn more about John and give him a high five next time you see him!

When did you first start FitWitting? 3 years ago this month (January)
Tell us about your sports & fitness background:
I played sports in high school, continued to do so recreationally but over time that frequency declined, along with my fitness. I maintained a minimal level of fitness for years until I joined Fitwit.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting FitWit?
I don’t know why this surprised me, but everyday mobility improvement was not something I came in looking for. The “Ah-ha” moment for me happened while in my car one day. I reached behind my seat to drop something into the floor. I remember noticing that I did not have to lean forward in my seat and that there was no longer a pain in my shoulder with that movement.
Why do you FitWit?
To make my wife happy (Just kidding)! I FitWit to improve my physical and mental well being.
Anything with the Erg or Air Bike. I also like relay workouts. I love team weeks!
Least favorite workouts?
My least favorite workouts are the workouts that don’t get your heart pumping.
Three words to describe you:
Consistent. Friendly. Loyal.
Any favorite FitWit moments?
There are so many great moments in the gym. One that sticks out in my memory was during a difficult workout when one fellow FitWitter stated that he should not have had such a big lunch, he also went into great detail describing where he went and what he had for lunch. He kept moving though, and I had to stop the movement I was doing to laugh.
Basic stuff: Continue to lose weight, increase my overall fitness and mobility. Be Healthy!
Words to live by?
To achieve big things, you must do the little things.
Something cool we don’t know about you?
The coolest thing about me is that I am married to “The Encourager”, Connie Morris.
Anything else you’d care to share?
My Wife has been a Fitwit member for 6 years. Observing her journey has been really wonderful. I was working out with a personal trainer before Fitwit, and not satisfied with the results. My wife tried for years to get me to give it a try, and at the place, I was three years ago, I said, “Why not?”. It was a great move. I truly enjoy the people and culture of Fitwit. There are too many fellow fitwitters and coaches to list here who make me look forward to being in the gym every time I go.
