When did you first start FitWitting? January 2019
Tell us about your sports & fitness background:
I grew up playing sports such as baseball and tennis and have always been involved in dancing. I did ballet, jazz dance and competitive Irish Dance (cue the Riverdance music) and started ballroom and salsa dancing on a team in college.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting FitWit?
So many positive changes! In 2019 I decided I wanted to get stronger. I’ve witnessed health and mobility challenges in my family as they aged and wanted to take steps to promote health and prevent injury. I’ve lost about 20lbs since starting FitWit, my body fat decreased, muscle increased and my ability to complete workouts. I also don’t hate running anymore.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like FitWit that were totally unexpected?
My mental toughness and resilience has improved—thanks in large part to the air bikes and staff coaching, I recognize when my mind starts to tell me I can’t do something. I pay more attention to those mental and physical cues and now know how to coach myself through mental hurdles. My dancing ability has drastically improved! Yay for becoming a supple leopard! My health and wellness impacted the health of my family and friends. We go on more walks and make healthier food choices.
Why do you FitWit?
I FitWit because of the community. The supportive environment created by the coaches and fellow FitWitters is something that I didn’t know existed in the fitness space before joining FitWit. I enjoy working out with people who are so inspiring to be around both in and out of the gym. Working out with my fellow 7 am -ers is a great way to start the day.
- I like workouts that involve teamwork and opportunities to cheer each other on.
- Workouts that involve mobility or flexibility
- I like when we end a workout with a run or walk to the end of the street together
- High knees or jump rope
Least favorite workouts?
If I had to choose, it would probably involve several rounds on the air bikes.
Three words to describe you:
Optimistic, Caring, Survivor
Any favorite FitWit moments?
A workout with white mailbox runs where Amy, Joey and I took turns doing dance moves on our way down the street. I also like hearing people cheer each other on during workouts. I love it when someone cracks a joke in the middle of a long plank or hollow hold.
To develop the mobility, flexibility, strength and nutrition habits to promote health
and a great quality of life throughout the next chapters of my life.
Words to live by?
“With rush-hour traffic, work, play, and everything in-between, we all played a part in the grand play. What was your verse? It was important, for sure, because you traded a day of your life for it.”
Something cool we don’t know about you?
I am a competitive ballroom dancer. When I’m not at work or at the gym, I can often be found at a dance studio practicing cha-cha, rumba, samba, paso doble and jive.
Anything else you’d care to share?
- I like the nutrition challenges and the workouts—FitWit is like a user’s manual for your body.
- I also really love ice cream! I like making ice cream at home and trying new flavors and recipes. I thought joining a gym meant giving up ice cream. Turns out you can work out and enjoy dessert too!
