LiveFit Winner, TJ – Six Months In!

Hi FitWit Nation!

I made it to the 6-month mark! To be exact at the time of reading, I have made is 178 days as a part of the FitWit Nation! I’m super excited to have made it this far and looking forward to the next 6 months. I know I update y’all monthly (and more often if you follow me on social media) but I thought it would be fun to look at the stats so far.

Day 1 I took the newbie assessment. Because the weather was really cold the workout was modified from running to jump rope. Little did I know that it would become a battle for the year. My newbie assessment was:

  • 200 Singles
  • 2 Rounds
    • 10 Push-up
    • 15 Squats
    • 20 Sit-ups
  • 200 Singles

It took me 19 minutes and 32 seconds. here’s the thing, I had to do TRX squats. If my memory serves me correctly, I did a lot of assisting myself with my arms. Not only did I have assisted squats, I did single jumps without the rope. I would attempt 10 turns of the rope and then jump in place.

Day 179, I re-took it last week. Workout done in 16 minutes and 24 seconds. No assists at all!! I did 400 singles…and hit 25 in a row a couple of times. I hit the crate 30 times and cranked out the push-ups and sit-ups. The cherry on top is I did this after the strength workout.  Needless to say, FitWit works! 3 minutes and 8 second PR!

I have attended 48 workouts (complete 50 if you count the 2 times I did what was posted on my own…). It has been a struggle some weeks to battle soreness or injury to make it in to the gym, but every time I show up, I enjoy it (at least before and after…haha).

I increased my kettlebell weight from the smallest available to up to 35-40 lbs. I can jump rope (It may not be pretty but it happens!!) I completed 68 burpees in 12 minutes (and was the only one to show at 7:15 pm)!

Looking forward to the rest of the year, I’m setting a few goals:

  1. Attendance: Average at least 3 times a week
  2. Nutrition: Focus on making several little changes to see more results from the hard work
  3. Trying all the times: Make it to a 6 am workout! (It is the only time slot I haven’t made it to yet…)
  4. Jump Rope: Increase my number of singles in a row
  5. Bonus: Attend 5 days in a row.

Each goal will give me something different to focus on for a given day or workout. I like to give myself big challenges that I can break down to weekly goals. I’m going to try new strategies and report back on the success.

Thank you to everyone for supporting in this journey thus far.  I’m going to keep showing up and working hard.  I’m looking forward to another amazing six months with even bigger gains! Hope to see y’all at the gym soon.

Telling it #oneswingatatime,

TJ
