O4W Member of the Month: August N.

Sometimes all is takes is one single interaction to know that something is a good fit. That’s how it was with August. After one phone conversation, we were confident that FitWit was going to be a good fit for him and him for us. August has only been a member of our fitness community for 3 months, but in that time has made awesome progress, in large part due to his consistency. August tempers his extreme focus and drive with a calm and steadiness he brings to every workout. He has done an excellent job of always challenging himself to dig deeper without sacrificing the quality of his movement. For all the reasons above and much more, August is our January Member of the Month! Read on to learn more about this awesome new member of our community:

When did you first start FitWiting? Nov. 1st, 2018

Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I played soccer growing up into high school and briefly played football till I partially slipped a disk in my back which stalled any sort of activity for a couple years. I didn’t play sports again until college at North Georgia College & State University. I was in the Corps of Cadets (ROTC) program there for 2 years, and I played rugby for the club team there as a prop for 2 seasons.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting FitWit? I think everything would be the most accurate answer. Definitely weight loss and improvement in every exercise. I think when I started 5 burpees were almost too much, and now, somehow, I am able to do 40 in a row; although it’s not easy or quick. I am really thrilled with my rowing time! When I first started I was around 9+ min 2000m, but on the 1/26 I finished at 8:02 minutes. I’m still chasing to get under 8 mins though.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like FitWit that were totally unexpected? I really set out this year wanting to be more disciplined as a person, and keeping my commitments to the workouts, especially the 6am ones have really held me to that. Also, I don’t sleep in on Saturday mornings anymore because I like to catch that 9am class.

Why do you FitWit? I just turned 30 and I figured it’s now or never to push myself and do something different.

Favorite workouts? Bike sprints & ball slams

Least favorite workouts? Burpees & running to the mailbox and back

Three words to describe you: Funny, loyal, friendly

Any favorite FitWit moments? My most memorable/favorite is me missing the box on box jumps and quietly freaking out to myself while Stacy and Lisa calmly recommended that I may need stitches…I did.

Fitness Goals? To stay disciplined with the workouts and lose weight.

Words to live by (Favorite Quote)? Don’t be sad, because sad backwards is das, and das not good.

Something cool we don’t know about you? I am an open mic comic. Definitely not getting paid for it, but it is something I truly enjoy doing.
