O4W Member of the Month: Chris W.

Ladies and gentlemen: give it up for our Member of the Month. . . Chris W! This guy came in hot back in March with some serious goals to tackle and and this guy hasn’t cooled down since. He has been a staple in the evening since he began and it’s been a lot of fun to watch him improve and excel simply by showing up and putting in the work (easier said than done!). Chris has made awesome gains and improvements and has changed his body composition along the way. Read on to learn more about this awesome member of our fitness community:

Hometown: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Age: 37

Occupation: Air Traffic Controller (12.5 years)

When did you first start FitWiting? Started FitWit March 5, 2019.

Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I played football from age 8-16 and I started surfing around 7 years old. About 5 years ago I really got into hiking. I’d like to start rock climbing and rappelling.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting FitWit? I’ve seen a lot of improvement and changes since starting FitWit. I weighed 215lbs, had a size 36 waist, and was on two blood pressure medications. It was a struggle just to get through a workout. Two days ago, I weighed in at 191lbs, my waist size is now a 33, and I am down to one blood pressure medication. I should be off my last medication soon. Workouts are still a struggle, but I’m getting through them and feeling stronger.

One goal I had when I started was being able to do 5 unassisted pull-ups. I could barely do one when I started and now I can do 6 pretty easily. I wish I would have logged more holds and stuff in the beginning. I do know my bench has gone from 175 to 205, back squat from 195-215, and deadlift from 245-305.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like FitWit that were totally unexpected? Before starting FitWit, I never really looked forward to working out. Now I get excited to go to the gym and it’s not just about the exercise. I look forward to seeing my fellow FitWitters, kicking butt, and getting our butts kicked. I’ve always eaten pretty healthy, but now I eat clean. I’ve learned a lot just from talking with our coaches about how and what to eat.

Why do you FitWit? I like FitWit because I like a challenge. I like that the workouts constantly change. The variety keeps me interested and makes me stronger.

Favorite workouts? My favorite workouts are AMRAPs and barbell.

Least favorite workouts? My least favorite workout is one from last week – The JRo. I don’t know what that evil was, but I’m still sore lol.

Three words to describe you: Witty, Observant, Assiduous

Any favorite FitWit moments? So far my favorite FitWit moment would be the Team Games and Member Appreciation party. It was a blast working out in the big group, even though our team lost badly. So it wasn’t really a moment but more a day.

Fitness Goals? My goal right now is to do 10 toes to the bar. I really need to improve my core strength.

Something cool we don’t know about you? Something my friends always seem to bring up is that I’m an exceptional cook. Not in the way people say, “Oh, he can BBQ” or “She makes a great casserole”, but in the way they speak of restaurant chefs.

Anything else you’d care to share? I read academic technical cook books for fun, not Betty Crocker. Not to toot my own horn, but I can make just about anything and it will be restaurant quality.
