Our March member of the month is Dave, a regular staple at 6:15 pm. Dave is as consistent as they come. Infact, it’s safe to say he’d give anyone (including the coaches) a run for their money on attendance over the last year. Dave’s willingness to lean into the FitWit community and take advantage of the accountability provided in the gym is one of the reasons he is as strong as an ox and moves like a supple leopard. But that is only part of it. Dave is also such a well rounded athlete because he is first and foremost determined to move safely and efficiently. It’s also because he knows when to take a step back from a workout, grab a band, and focus on shoulder rehab. Next time you see Dave in the gym (which will be tomorrow 🙂 give him a high five for his determination and hard work in the gym!

When did you first start FitWiting? January 2018
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I’ve been fairly active my entire life. As a kid I did soccer, then on to football and track. I became more interested in strength training in high school but that quickly faded. Then, about 2 years into grad school, I found yoga, joined a gym and haven’t looked back. Incorporating health and fitness into my life, rather than having it be just another thing on my to-do list, has been one of the wisest decisions I’ve made.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting FitWit? The most notable changes for me have been body fat loss and a dramatic improvement in mental wellness. Oh, and my nagging injuries have also improved significantly. You FitWit folks are the best!
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like FitWit that were totally unexpected? I feel very fortunate to have found FitWit. Moving to a new city can be difficult. I immediately felt welcomed at FitWit, which was something I figured might take some time. I’m very happy to have been wrong! The FitWit community has been incredibly great to and for me and I could not be more appreciative!
Why do you FitWit? To live the life I want.
Favorite workouts? Ooo, this is a tough one. There are so many! I’m a big fan of kettle bell and mobility work as well as jump rope. Also, timekeeper workouts are fun!
Least favorite workouts? Crazy 8s (not a huge fan of long-distance sprints).
Three words to describe you: Loyal, Honest, Determined
Any favorite FitWit moments? My favorite FitWit moments are definitely the end of a workout because its nice having finished, obviously, but more importantly, I enjoy the sense of having accomplished something as a group, even if the exercises are individual. Go team!
Fitness Goals? To get stronger and live longer, obviously
Words to live by (Favorite Quote)? Be mindful, be caring, be inquisitive.
Something cool we don’t know about you? I live to learn new stuff. The world is a fascinating place.
Anything else you’d care to share? Sliced dill pickles + pepperoni pizza. You’re welcome.
