Congrats to our January Member of the Month – Tammy!
Tammy and her husband, Greg, have been “all in” since joining FitWit in 2017. If you don’t workout with them before the sun comes up, then you’ve surely seen them with their two boys in tow at the Saturday workouts, setting a strong example on the importance of making an exercise a priority. With Tammy’s rowing background, it’s been a fun month in the gym as we’ve watched Tammy shine on the ergs!
Here’s more about Tammy:
Hometown: I’m an Air Force brat, so I moved quite a bit. Having now lived in Atlanta for 20 years, this is my home!
First FitWit class (date): April, 2017
Tell us about any sports & fitness background. I started rowing in high school when my best friend’s brother started a rowing club, and I continued throughout college at Syracuse. After graduation, I needed a new way to keep fit, so I started running, and ran three marathons. In recent years, I’ve enjoyed early morning classes, as I need to generally work out on the morning while the kids are sleeping, and it doesn’t feel as safe to be out running in the dark.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting FitWit? My clothes fit better! And I just plain feel healthier and stronger.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like FitWit that were totally unexpected? I love that Greg has also joined me at FitWit. He hasn’t always made exercise a priority, but I feel like he does with FitWit because he enjoys it so much. I think he’s happier being healthier, which makes me happier too!
Why do you FitWit? I’m a pretty high stress person. Working out is a huge stress relief for me, so it’s kind of a must! It’s an hour of the day when I’m thinking about something other than my to do list.
Favorite workouts? Workouts with a lot of cardio.
Least favorite workouts? Not a huge fan of kettlebell swings.
Three words to describe you: Organized, dedicated, and to be honest…a little too stressed!
Any favorite FitWit moments? Saturday morning workouts in the park, when the boys join in with is.
Fitness Goals? Stay active!
Something cool we don’t know about you? I lived in Germany for 3 years as a kid.
